A capacitor is one of the smallest parts in your entire HVAC system. It's also one of the most common reasons an AC unit suddenly stops working. When it fails, the compressor and fan motors don't get the jolt of electricity they need to start up - and your system just sits there doing nothing while the heat builds inside your home.

Here's what we were working with on this one: a heavily corroded, failed capacitor. The rust and wear on it told the whole story. It had given up. We pulled it out and dropped in a new replacement, making sure every wire connection was clean and seated properly before buttoning things back up.

After the swap, we don't just flip the unit on and call it a day. We verify the repair with a Fluke clamp meter - a professional diagnostic tool that measures actual voltage and current running through the system. That step matters. It's the difference between guessing the fix worked and actually knowing it did.

People are often surprised that something this small can cause a total system failure. But that's exactly how HVAC works - the electrical components have to be performing correctly for the mechanical side to function at all. A weak or dead capacitor puts extra strain on the motors, and if it goes unaddressed long enough, you're looking at a much more expensive repair down the road. Catching it early is always the right move.

This is a straightforward air conditioning repair, but we treat every job the same way - diagnose it right, fix it right, and verify it before we leave. No guesswork.
